Our Philosophy

Lindsay grew up in Maryland, riding and showing in hunters, and learning good horsemanship skills at the Byrnes School/Potomac Glen Riding School, Avenel Stables in Potomac, MD, Southdown Farm in Great Falls, VA, and White Buffalo Horse Farm in Orange, VA. She gained a lot of experience working with off-the-track Thoroughbreds and training, riding, and showing horses of all breeds and disciplines. After working with a wide variety of trainers, instructors, and clinicians, and logging countless hours in the saddle on all different types of horses, Lindsay has developed an effective method of starting horses under saddle and methods for correcting severe behavioral problems in many different types of horses, particularly aggressive horses. Her attitude is one of continual learning, and her methods involve teaching the horse, so the horse learns to think for himself and truly understands what is being asked of him. Training and teaching are based on three foundation building blocks of mutual respect, trust, and love. She prefers classical dressage to modern dressage, and hunt seat/forward seat instruction is based on the traditional methods as taught by George Morris and Sally Swift's centered riding. Riding is a sport that engages us wholly; our body, mind, and soul must work together in harmony with the body, mind, and soul of the horse. What comes of this is the inexpressible joy and perfection of movement and performance that is our ultimate goal. Training takes into account methods that make sense and work to produce desired results, and also takes into account what each horse likes to do and has an aptitude for, after trying a variety of disciplines
